Walk-In Hours

  • Walk-in hours during the Academic Year are Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays 1:30pm-3:00pm
  • Walk-in hours during the Summer are Wednesday from 1:30pm-3:00pm

Students who arrive to the Global Education Office outside of walk-ins or a scheduled appointment will not be permitted to see an advisor. 

Please contact the Global Education Office at 505-277-4032 or email nse@unm.edu. Students who have already started a application, or are currently on Exchange, may contact their advisor directly through email or make an appointment. Please note that all appointments will be conducted via email, phone, Skype, or Zoom.

Toni Corso

Toni Corso is a Study Abroad and National Student Exchange Advisor for GEO. Toni is from New Orleans, Louisiana and received a Bachelor’s in Political Science at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Toni also participated as a D-1 athlete for the ULM track team in the 400m hurdles and 4x4 relay events. During her junior year, she studied international politics as an exchange student at Hanbat National University in Daejeon, South Korea. During her senior year, she completed an undergraduate Honors thesis on the indoctrination of North Korean citizens. After graduating from ULM, Toni taught ESL for the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education in South Korea for a total of 3 years. During her time as an ESL teacher, Toni also worked as an English tutor to North Korean defectors as a member of the Nonprofit organization, LiNK (Liberty in North Korea). In her free time, Toni enjoys editing YouTube videos, learning how to cook new international recipes, watching horror movies, and playing volleyball. Her goal in life is to visit all 50 states someday.

Todd Karr

Todd has served in various international education roles at Iowa State University, North Dakota State University, Indiana University, and Arcadia University’s College of Global Studies. Throughout his career in education abroad, Todd has focused on program development, institutional exchange partnerships, managing site-specific programs, student recruitment and advising, and facilitating faculty advising and training programs. He also has experience working in ISSS and international student recruitment and admissions. Todd is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

As a student, Todd was an exchange student at Sapporo University in Japan; participated in the Salzburg Seminar short-term program in Austria; and a graduate intern at the University of Otago in New Zealand. As a professional, Todd has participated in numerous education abroad site visits in Europe, Asia, and Australia/New Zealand. Todd also has experience recruiting students in Asia to study in the U.S.

In his spare time, Todd enjoys cycling, movies, experiencing new restaurants and local cultural events, traveling, and spending time with his family. His wife Pam has her Master’s in Elementary Education and is a English language tutor. Todd and Pam have three children, Kyler, Sumalee, and Aluna.

Sara Gutierrez

Sara Gutierrez is the Faculty-Led International Program Coordinator and previously a study abroad advisor and the passport center coordinator for GEO. Sara is a native New Mexican and UNM alumnus. After graduating from Manzano High School in Albuquerque she attended UNM, earning two undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Philosophy, along with a certificate in Peace Studies. She attained a Master’s of Public Administration and a Masters Certificate in Race and Social Justice from UNM. As evidenced by her academic accomplishments, she has a passion for international diplomacy and global issues. As a student, she studied abroad in Thailand for a semester, gaining a lifelong appreciation for Southeast Asian culture and cuisine. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate studies, she participated in Faculty-Led programs to Italy, Canada, Panama, and Spain, both as a participant and a group leader. In her free time, she loves to try new foods, dabble in photography, and travel (23 countries on 5 continents!)
